What we write about

Fertility & maybe

Wanting children, not wanting them, and not knowing are different experiences. None needs defending here.

The question isn't simple

Cancer can put a deadline on a question you weren't ready to answer. It can also complicate a decision you thought you'd already made. Alongside practical questions, there can be grief about losing the freedom to decide in your own time.

Maybe you want to be a parent. Maybe you don't. Maybe you'd like one week without anyone asking. We won't treat motherhood as the happy ending everyone is supposed to want.

Loving someone through difficult news

A pregnancy announcement can be wonderful news and hard to receive. You can love your friend and need a break from the group chat. You can send a warm message without asking for every update. Your capacity today isn't a measure of how much you care.

‘I'm glad you told me. I'm having a tender day, so I might be quiet for a bit’ can be an honest answer. You don't need to promise that tomorrow will feel easier. Sometimes you won't know until it arrives.

Room for the unresolved

This is a place for the feelings that don't fit neatly into a consultation: envy you didn't ask for, uncertainty in a relationship, relief that surprises you, or exhaustion with having to explain.

We don't offer predictions about fertility or instructions about treatment. Those questions belong with your care team. Here, the uncertainty itself is allowed to be part of the conversation, without being rushed into a decision or a silver lining.
